Hello, thank you for visiting my online portfolio. Most of my designs are digitally created; I love Illustrator cc, as well as doodling, drawing and painting. I've been creating surface pattern designs and characters for over twenty years now.
As a freelancer, I design for many childrenswear retailers, suppliers and trend sites, creating for clothing, bedding, wallpaper and anything else that might need a character or pattern. Some of my recent freelance clients include Pigeon Organics, Lucy + yak, Minicool, Mothercare, Lilly + Sid, Morrison's and Hibou Home.
As well as being a designer and mum, I like to spend my time drinking tea, listening to loud, experimental music, crocheting, doing embroidery, hanging out in the garden, watching too many BBC 4 music documentaries and binge-eating fudge, though not necessarily in that order.
It was my childhood passion for painting and drawing that eventually led me to graduate with a Fashion/Printed Textiles degree from Brighton University in 1994. Back then, I designed prints for womenswear and I was lucky enough to spend four amazing years working for two of the top textile companies in Italy straight after graduating.
On my return to the UK, after freelancing for a while in Brighton, I moved to London to become a fashion and textile journalist for a couple of years. I loved writing, researching trends and styling photo shoots, but missed design too much. So in 2004 I returned to designing for a studio in-house, this time specialising in childrenswear, which I found so inspiring. From there I went on to design in-house for George at Asda, then Mamas and Papas and Mothercare.
It would be great to hear from you, so please get in touch if you would like to collaborate on a project, see more designs or would like to be a stockist.
